In December, the Jacksonville City Council unanimously approved a Local Landmark designation for the iconic Arlington Federal Savings & Loan building on University Boulevard North. It was the City’s first such historic designation in Arlington, and the first for a Mid-century building in Jacksonville.
However, the property owner filed an appeal in Circuit Court to overturn the Council’s decision. The City’s Office of General Counsel will defend the suit and is expected to file an answer by early March. OAI will keep you updated as to the status of the appeal and the building’s protected status.
