Near the fork of the branch, where the oldest tree grows, could be something below.
Historic Preservation
The Arlington area was one of the earliest established communities in northeast Florida and therefore we have a lot of places, and even building that should be preserved. For some of these locations, the preservation has already been started, or is as complete as is possible or at least could be considered at the state of "job well done" (e.g., Ft. Caroline). There are several additional buildings and locations that deserve to be preserved and need to be preserved. It is the responsibility of the community to preserve its historic treasures as no one else will come along and do it for you. The Old Arlington, Inc. organization is interested in doing exactly that.
If you know of buildings or locations that have an interesting historical background, make sure that we have information that will allow us to pursue a plan to preserve it for our future generations. If there is a home, or business location that has been around for quite a while, it may very well qualify for consideration. Also important are locations, such as old cemeteries, parks, or common grounds used by our historical neighors.
Our organization is also interested in community revitialization but what good would revitalization be if we ignored our past? We implore to you to help us with this effort. Come out to our meetings, get involved, speak out, and stand up for your community. If you don't, there may not be anything left to preserve or revitilize.
