Near the fork of the branch, where the oldest tree grows, could be something below.
Cleveland Johnson
Cleveland Johnson married Sarah Louise Bruce, the daughter of Claris and F. W. Bruce. A daughter Mary Louise Johnson (born 1909), married Ted Powell. Their son Cleve Powell is our historian, and has served as Vice President three times. Cleve Johnson and Louise Bruce also had a daughter named Claris Ruth Johnson, who married George Jaques, who owned the Lone Star Stables. Their daugher, Joan Jaques (Vinson) was our August 2007 guest speaker.
Cleveland Johnson grew up in Lake Butler, Florida, was a surveyor, and worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In 1914, he purchased the land that is now known as Tree Hill Nature Center.
